Non-Destructive Testing encompasses a wide range of methods which aim to inspect an object without modifying it. Diagnosis must be unambiguous, particularly in sensitive industrial sectors such as nuclear and aeronautics. This book provides an exhaustive presentation of the parameters for carrying out this evaluation. The conditions of occurrence and characteristics of potential defects are described in detail, as well as the physical principles, technology and current methods of NDT, both common and specific. This manual also describes methods for identifying factors that can deteriorate measurements and distort diagnosis. Thus, the concept of structural noise is defined, and environmental parameters are introduced. Solutions are also proposed, notably based on progress made in phenomena modelling and inversion methods. Finally, the book deals with the information post-processing (signal, image), and presents a new approach (RC-CND) showing the interest of considering NDT rules from the design of structures.
