Shalini Randeria is a professor at the department of Anthropology and Soci- ology of Development at the Graduate Institute in Geneva. She has published widely on the anthropology of globalisation, law, the state and social move- ments. Her empirical research on India also addresses issues of post-colo- niality and multiple modernities. She has conducted research on population projects and policies and their interplay with gender relations in India, focus- ing on the circulation of demographic norms and consequent changes in state practices.
