Franz Graf graduated in architecture at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and has worked as a freelance architect in Geneva since 1989. He is Associate Professor at the EPFL, where he has headed the Laboratory of Techniques and Preservation of Modern Architecture (TSAM) since 2007. Since 2005 he has also been Professor of Technology at the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio. His research explores modern and contemporary construction systems and their conservation, as illustrated in his many publications. His main reference work, Histoire matérielle du bâti et projet de sauvegarde, was published by Presses Polytechniques et Universitaires Romandes (PPUR) in 2011. Franz Graf is the President of Docomomo Switzerland and a member of the expert commission for the restoration of architectural works at the Fondation Le Corbusier.
